Birthday Party!

I can't believe it, my little munchkin turned two today! So that obviously had to be celebratated with alot of delicious treats, presents and pink decorations! :) She was so much more aware of her birthday than she was last year. Not to mention Charlotte was hospitalized on her first birthday, so this is actually the first birthday we got to celebrate at home with friends and family. We're very thankful for that! There is nothing better than having your child home with you and in good health. That's all that matters, really! Here's a look at Charlotte's little birthday bash!

Me with the gorgeous bithday girl. She gets prettier by the day! But she's also the coolest chick I know! She's really everything I wished for, The past two years were definitely the best years of my life!

Because every birthday girl needs a cake! We went for a pink fairy princess one. It was absolutely delicious and I thought it looked very cute!

Presents! Charlotte got showered with gifts. Everyone was so generous! And you could see there really went some thought into the gifts she got. Eventhough I don't think bringing gifts is necessary, we do appreciate it very much!

Treats for her friends at the daycare centre. We went for some squeezy fruits with some custom made wrappers. No need for super unhealthy treats! And also some pink organza bags with mints for the daycare workers.

Local Traditions and Festivities!

In two weeks from now we'll be celebration a typical local holiday. We celebrate the birthday of a Catholic bishop that comes to visit us with his helpers and brings gifts for all the children. He usually arrives by boat a couple of weeks in advance to get everyone in the right spirit for the actual holiday. This was today. 

This is a holiday I grew up with and one that holds many dear memories to me. We always celebrated this holiday with the entire family and I remember feeling so excited and loved as a child. But it is also a harsh reminder that not everyone is still around to celebrate it with me this year. Especially my dad. He passed away before Charlotte was born and it hurt that he's not around to celebrate the holidays with us. But I do know I am very blessed that Charlotte is here and that I can share this holiday with her and make new memories with our little family. I love her so much and I'm so incredibly thankful fthat I am able to share this with her. 

Charlotte found a great viewing point on daddies shoulders. She got really excited about all the dancing and the music as the parade passed by. It was very crowded in the streets, but she handled the event like a pro. She even recieved candy from of the helpers. So she was just chilling and stuffing away her sweets. She had a great time, so that automatically means we all had a great time.

After standing outside in the cold for a while we decided to head indoors for a warm cup of coffee. There were alot of kids there, so it was impossible to keep Charlotte at our table. She went off playing with the other children and got treated to some spiced biscuits and candy by yet another helper. She got so excited about it that she ran back to our table to show us what she just got. 

Yes, she was really excited about getting candy from a stranger... we'll probably need to do something about that in the future. But not now, not yet. We're just enjoying the festivities and love being able to share this with our precious little angel. Do you have any special local traditions?

December favorites - gifts and gets!

First of all, happy new year everyone! I can't believe it's January already! Things have been so crazy during the holidays that I didn't even notice that I haven't blogged for two whole weeks! The holidays have been wonderful here, and I hope everyone has made some wonderful lasting memories over the last couple of weeks.

Not only was it the time to share with the people we care about, It's also the season of retail therapy. I'm not a crazy shopaholic, I only purchase items that I have given alot of thought and I know that we'll get a great use out of. But December is the month I let loose a little. I wanted to share some of our favorites gifts and gets. If you have any birthdays or parties coming up soon, there might be some useful ideas in this blogpost!

Mommy

I got a Sonic Clean face cleansing brush, a fragrance by Lacoste called Joy of Pink and the Christmas album 'Funny Looking Angels' by Smith&Burrows. The album is amazing, I'll probably still be listening to it in March! Really, buy it and thank me next year! :) The fragrance is really nice as well. It's fresh, flowery and girly and that's just right up my alley. The face cleansing brush wasn't my first choice initially. I was planning on getting a clarisonic, but decided I wasn't going to spend that kind of money on something I wasn't even sure I was going to use for a longer period of time. If this is really something I'll really end up loving I can always upgrade to a more expensive one. But in the meantime, this one seems to work just fine and I have been using it daily.

Daddy

Daddy actually brought up the fact that he's not a part of this blog at all, and he did have a point there. So I thought I'd share his gifts as well! Daddy got a Jack Daniel's giftset (I love the packaging!), a black leather Samsonite wallet, a Bruno Banani fragrange and Levi's boxers. All black and manly stuff! I think it's so difficult to shop for him (any man actually) but I think we've done okay this year. He seemed to like his presents! The Jack Daniel's didn't even make it to 2014! Haha!

Baby

Charlotte's presents are definitely color themed! She got a babywalker, a baby laptop (both by vtech baby) and a princess magic mirror book. I know there is alot of criticism out there about gender marketing, so alot of you will probably think we're doing something terribly wrong by getting her these items. But you know what? I absolutely loved pretty pink toys when I was little and I dont want to deny by daughter that. Besides, I think I turned out just fine. You can be a strong and independent woman and still like your pinks!

And last but not least, I got another car! Yay! But you probably already figured that one out from the picture on the top of this blogpost. Now this wasn't a Christmas gift, but I did buy it in the month December, so I thought I'd throw this one in anyway. I love it! It's a tiny beige Nissan Micra. I think it's a really cute car and since I'm always struggling with parking, the smaller the car the better!

Well, that was the end of 2013. I'm really excited to see what 2014 will bring! Take care!
